GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) — M-Class minimum, H-Class for fine dust

Asbestos in older vessels — H-Class mandatory

Hull preparation and abrasive blasting

Rust removal, antifouling stripping and surface preparation on steel and GRP hulls is one of the most demanding surface prep applications in the marine sector. Wet abrasive blasting combines the cutting power of abrasive media with the simultaneous flush of high-pressure water, eliminating dry dust generation and significantly reducing the volume of airborne particulate compared to dry grit blasting.

Attaches to a compatible V-TUF pressure washer (GB110 range confirmed compatible) and injects abrasive media — sand or grit — directly into the high-pressure water jet. For rust removal, antifouling removal and surface preparation on steel hulls, keel plates, deck fittings and structural steelwork. The tungsten carbide tip gives significantly longer service life than standard steel nozzles under abrasive conditions. Always wear full PPE including eye, face and P3 respiratory protection. Manage contaminated blast water in accordance with Environmental Permitting requirements — do not allow into harbour or surface water.
