V-TUF vs Numatic — M-Class and H-Class Vacuum Cleaner Comparison
V-TUF vs Numatic — Industrial Vacuum Cleaner Comparison
Numatic is one of the UK's best-known vacuum cleaner brands — the manufacturer of Henry and a wide range of commercial and industrial vacuum cleaners. V-TUF is a UK manufacturer specialising in health-rated dust extraction for construction, remediation and industrial environments. The two ranges serve different primary markets: Numatic is strongest in commercial cleaning and facilities management; V-TUF is strongest in classified dust extraction for COSHH compliance.

The fundamental difference — classification
The most important distinction between the V-TUF and Numatic industrial ranges is dust classification. V-TUF M-Class and H-Class machines are independently tested and certified to EN 60335-2-69 — the classification mark appears on the machine and is the evidence that satisfies a COSHH assessment and an HSE inspector.
Numatic's NVQ series carries an H-Class rating for their specialist asbestos range. Their broader commercial and industrial range — NVD, NV, NVD series — are commercial grade machines but are not health-rated to M-Class or H-Class standard. For cleaning in environments where COSHH hazardous dust is present, only a classified machine satisfies the engineering control requirement.

Where V-TUF differs from Numatic
- M-Class classification across the range — V-TUF's full industrial vacuum range is M-Class or H-Class rated. Numatic's commercial range is not M-Class rated, which means it is not a COSHH compliant engineering control for silica, hardwood or other hazardous construction dust.
- Longopac sealed bagging — the GRINDEX H-Class range uses Longopac sealed continuous bagging. The bag seals before opening, eliminating filter exposure during emptying — the most common route to H-Class compliance failure in remediation work. Numatic H-Class machines use standard bag disposal.
- 110V native rating — V-TUF M-Class and H-Class machines are available in native 110V for construction site compliance. Numatic's range is 240V only.
- Velocity monitor — V-TUF MIGHTY HSV and MINI HSV X2 carry a velocity monitor that confirms airflow at the tool connection in real time. Numatic machines use a standard filter saturation indicator.
- Numatic advantage — large tank H-Class — Numatic's NVQ 570 has a 57L tank vs the GRINDEX1100LPS at 25L, which is relevant for long shifts on large-scale asbestos projects. V-TUF's equivalent large-tank H-Class option is the MAXi 80L.
