Industrial Cleaning Equipment for Electrical Contractors
Electrical contractors — industrial cleaning equipment
V-TUF supplies pressure washers, hot water degreasers and industrial vacuums to electrical contractors, panel builders and installation firms — from the mobile installer working out of a van to the contractor running a workshop and fabrication unit. For an electrical business the cleaning need is practical and compliance-driven at once: 110V site-safe working, dust from chasing and drilling, degreasing of cable-pulling lubricant, and keeping vans, tools and units presentable and safe.
Cleaning applications for electrical contractors
Chasing, drilling and first-fix dust extraction
Chasing walls for cable runs, drilling back-boxes and coring through masonry generates fine respirable dust. Where the substrate is brick, concrete, block or mortar, that dust contains respirable crystalline silica, which has a workplace exposure limit under EH40 and must be controlled at source. On-tool extraction with an M-Class dust extractor captures dust as it is created rather than leaving it to settle across a customer's property.
Cable-pulling lubricant and gel clean-up
Cable-pulling gels and lubricants leave a slippery residue on floors, cable trays and working surfaces that is both a slip hazard and a housekeeping problem. Hot water washing lifts lubricant residue where a mop cannot, and a wet vacuum recovers it cleanly.
Workshop and fabrication unit cleaning
Panel-build and fabrication units accumulate copper swarf, cable offcuts, insulation trimmings and general dust. An industrial wet-and-dry vacuum clears benches and floors quickly, and hot water pressure washing degreases workbenches, racking and unit floors.
Van, tool and equipment wash-down
A contractor's van is a mobile store — cable drums, conduit, power tools and access equipment all pick up mud, plaster and dust on site. Regular pressure washing of van racking, tools and access platforms keeps stock findable and equipment serviceable.
Site tidy and handover cleaning
At handover, an installation area has to be left clean. Industrial vacuums and pressure washers clear construction dust, packaging debris and installation mess so the electrical work is presented professionally and the site meets its cleanliness obligations.
Compliance requirements for electrical contractors
- Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 — 110V site-safe equipment — cleaning equipment used on construction and installation sites should follow the same 110V site-safe principles as the rest of a contractor's kit. Further reading: Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
- COSHH 2002 — lubricants, degreasers and dust — cable-pulling gels, degreasers and construction dust all require assessment and control measures. Further reading: COSHH Regulations 2002
- HSE EH40 — silica and dust exposure limits — respirable crystalline silica from chasing and coring masonry has a workplace exposure limit; M-Class extraction is the appropriate minimum control. Further reading: HSE EH40
- PUWER 1998 — cleaning equipment as work equipment — pressure washers, vacuums and extractors must be suitable, maintained and operated by trained staff. Further reading: PUWER 1998
- Chemical hazard reclassification, August 2026 — reclassification changes the COSHH position of a number of cleaning and degreasing chemicals; review your COSHH file before the deadline. Further reading: Chemical hazard reclassification, August 2026
